The Northside Grizzlies football team has won their first two conference games on the road.

The Grizzlies opened up conference play Sept. 23 with a 29-0 blowout win at Bryant.

“I was really proud of the way we went on the road and played against Bryant. The defense and kicking game was really playing good that night,” Head coach Mike Falleur said.

Defensive back Tre Norwood had a big game against the Hornets accounting for two touchdown passes, a punt return touchdown, and an interception. Falleur wasn’t too shocked of Norwood’s dominant performance.

“No it’s not a shock, Tre is a very explosive player and yes we would we love for him to do that every day,” Falleur said.

The Grizzlies went back on the road the very next week to face, and later defeat the Little Rock Central Tigers, 19-0. Junior wide receiver, De’Arron Robinson, was able to score his first touchdown of the season against the Tigers.

“I hope DeAaron continues to improve I think he can be a great player for us now and in the future,” Falleur said.

The Grizzlies got an unlucky conference schedule this year, meaning they have to go on the road for four out of seven conference games. They’re halfway through this now, and Falleur is very relieved to be 2-0 on the road.

“It feels great to have 2 games behind us, especially with us winning both games,” Falleur said.

For the final stretch of games, the Grizzlies will be at home every other game. This starts this Friday night with a homecoming date with Little Rock Catholic.

“We cannot allow ourselves to get caught up in everything that goes with homecoming. The most important thing is to win the next game, and improve to 3-0 in the conference and 4-1 overall,” Falleur said.

The Grizzlies are currently tied for first place in the conference. The COMPLETE standings are listed below. Please note that the top six teams at the end of the season qualify for the State Playoffs.
