“WARNING: Verbal or physical abuse is called bullying. Bullying is against the rules and can get you suspended or expelled. If someone bullies you, or you see someone bullied, get help by telling an adult,” the international anti-bullying sign reads.

Signs of this warning is plastered through the hallways of almost every school in the nation. How serious is this warning being taken in our own school?

“Bullying… it happens every day”, said senior Matthew Jackson.

One of the most untalked about form of bullying is cyber-bullying.

“Especially on the internet- teens attack each other for who they are or what they do,” said senior Rashae Mithcem.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 49% of students in the grades 4-12 reported being bullied within the past month, however just 39% of the polled students bullying others.

Most teens are completely unaware of the laws in place for bullying. The Arkansas Department of Education requires schools to define, prohibit, and report bullying.

Many argue that bullying can lead to suicide, however many refuse to do anything about it.

“There’s not much of a way to stop it, unless teens stop judging others”, said Mitchem.
